The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a few from later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
