The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
