The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there is no denying its coming 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
