The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
