The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for those on the Right, 38
