The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
