A multitude from the ancients. 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 [They will find themselves] in the midst of scorching winds, and burning despair, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 They were endowed with good things 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 “We have been penalised; 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you considered the fire which you strike? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74
