A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 For, behold, in times gone by they were wont to abandon themselves wholly to the pursuit of pleasures, 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Just consider (the semen) that you emit, 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 If We so pleased, We certainly could make it salty. Why, then, are you not grateful? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We Ourselves made it for a reminder, and a boon to the desert-dwellers. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
