Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A company of the former peoples 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 But persisted in that greater sin, 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 If We so pleased, We certainly could make it salty. Why, then, are you not grateful? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! 74
