Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Have you considered what you sow? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 And have you seen the fire that you ignite? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
