Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty Garden 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
