Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty Garden 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
