Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
