Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 and no food except pus 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
