The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place 1 those who deny the truth. [Know, then, that] nothing can ward it off, 2 (A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent. 3 The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years: 4 So, (O Prophet), persevere with gracious perseverance. 5 They surely take it to be far away, 6 but We see it to be very near. 7 On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper 8 The mountains like the tufts of (carded) wool, 9 no loyal friend shall question loyal friend, 10 as they are given sight of them. The sinner will wish that he might ransom himself from the chastisement of that day even by his sons, 11 And his wife and his brother 12 And his kin that sheltered him. 13 And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him. 14 No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], 15 It snatches away by the scalps, 16 and it will claim all those who turned their backs [on the true faith] and turned away [from the truth], 17 And hoarded (wealth) and withheld it. 18 ۞ Surely man is created of a hasty temperament 19 Very nervous when touched by misfortune. 20 but when good comes upon him, he is grudging 21 Not so, however, those who consciously turn towards God in prayer. 22 Who are at their prayer constant. 23 and those in whose wealth there is a known right 24 For the (needy) who asks and him who is prevented (for some reason from asking); 25 and those who believe in the Day of Judgement 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's torment 27 for none is secure from the punishment of their Lord, 28 And those who of their private parts are guards. 29 except from their wives and what their right hands own, for these they are not blameworthy. 30 But those who seek more than this will be transgressors; 31 And those who respect their trusts and covenants; 32 and perform their witnessings, 33 And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer: 34 They will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss. 35

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
