Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (Muhammad), say, "It has been revealed to me that a party of jinn has listened (to the recitation) of the Quran and has told (their people), "We heard an amazing reading 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - 5 and that “some from among the humans used to seek protection of some among the jinn, and thus they increased the arrogance of the jinn”; 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 We know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 'And as for us, since we have listened to the Guidance, we have accepted it: and any who believes in his Lord has no fear, either of a short (account) or of any injustice. 13 'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allah, after listening to this Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such have sought the Right Path." 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: 17 ‘And that the mosques are for Allah only – therefore do not worship anyone along with Allah.’ 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
