The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
A questioner questioned concerning the doom about to fall 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, 2 From Allah, Lord of the Ascending Stairways 3 To Him ascend the angels and the Spirit in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So persevere with becoming patience. 5 behold, they see it as if far off; 6 but We see it near. 7 On the day when the heavens become like molten metal. 8 And the mountains will be like flakes of wool, 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], - the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children. 11 his companion wife, his brother, 12 And his nearest kindred who shelter him 13 And all those who are on the earth, to save himself. 14 Nay, verily it is a furnace 15 snatching away the scalp, 16 It shall claim him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 And hoarded (wealth) and withheld it. 18 ۞ Verily man is impatient by nature: 19 Very nervous when touched by misfortune. 20 And refraining, when good reaches him. 21 save those that pray 22 Those who are constant in their prayer 23 And in whose wealth there is a right acknowledged 24 for the impoverished nonrequester and the requester, 25 who acknowledge the Day of Judgment, 26 and are fearful of the punishment of their Lord; 27 Surely no one can be secure from the punishment of his Lord, -- 28 And those who protect their private organs (from adultery). 29 Save in regard to their spouses or those whom their right hands own; so verily they are not blameworthy 30 (but whoso seeks after more than that, they are the transgressors), 31 And those who keep their trusts and covenants; 32 and those who stand by their testimony 33 And those who keep a guard on their prayer, 34 They will be in gardens, honored. 35

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
