The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
A questioner questioned concerning the doom about to fall 1 To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer. 2 From Allah, the Lord of all pinnacles. 3 To Him the angels and the Spirit mount up, in a day whereof the measure is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore be patient, with a beautiful patience; 5 behold, men look upon that [reckoning] as something far away 6 but, We see it as near! 7 On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper 8 And the mountains shall be as tufts of wool 9 And friend shall not ask of friend 10 Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children 11 And his spouse and his brother 12 And the family in which he was. 13 And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him. 14 By no means! It will be the fierce flame 15 snatching away the scalp, 16 It shall call him who turneth back and backslideth. 17 And collected [wealth] and hoarded. 18 ۞ Verily man is impatient by nature: 19 When evil toucheth him, he is bewailing. 20 when good visits him, grudging, 21 Not so those devoted to Prayer;- 22 who are constant in prayer; 23 And those in whose wealth is a recognised right. 24 to those who ask [for help] and to the destitute; 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgement, 26 and go in fear of the punishment of their Lord, 27 For their Lord's displeasure is the opposite of Peace and Tranquillity;- 28 those who preserve their chastity 29 save from their wives and what their right hands own, then not being blameworthy 30 but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; 31 who honor their trust and promises, 32 Who uphold their testimonies, 33 And those who guard their Salat (prayers) well. 34 They will be in gardens, honored. 35
