Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 Noah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly. 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew' 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 “So for them, my calling them increased their fleeing away.” 6 “And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
