Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. "Now do pay heed unto me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day. 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then indeed I called them openly; 8 then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly, 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 He will send you abundant 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And hath placed the moon therein for a light, and hath made the sun a lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
