Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. "Now do pay heed unto me, 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
