Al-Hijjr 6 of 6
And the people of the Hijr (rocks) denied the Noble Messengers. 80 And We gave them Our signs, and they remained averse to them. 81 And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn. 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom. The Hour is surely coming. So overlook [their faults] with gracious forgiveness. 85 Verify thy Lord! He is the Great Creator, the Knower. 86 And assuredly We have vouchsafed unto thee seven of the repetitions and the mighty Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers. 88 And say: 'I am the plain warner' 89 Even as We sent down on the dividers 90 and who have broken the Scripture into fragments -- 91 By your Lord We shall question them one and all 92 As to what they did. 93 Therefore publicly announce what you are commanded, and turn away from the polytheists. 94 We suffice you against those who mock, 95 who set up another god with God, but they shall soon learn. 96 We certainly know that you feel sad about what they say against you. 97 But you should glorify your Lord with praises, and be among those who bow in submission; 98 And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain. 99

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
