Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord. 2 He exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, who has neither taken to Himself a wife, nor a son! 3 "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, 4 ‘Whereas we thought that men and jinns would never fabricate a lie against Allah!’ 5 and that “some from among the humans used to seek protection of some among the jinn, and thus they increased the arrogance of the jinn”; 6 And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. 7 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 we cannot tell if this bodes evil to those who dwell on earth or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 'Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah), and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant provision 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 Do not prostrate before anyone other than Him. When the servant of God (Muhammad) preached (his message) the jinn would all crowd around him. 19
