Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, 4 And verily we! we had imagined that humankind and jinn would never forge against Allah a lie. 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ 10 And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 When we heard the call to guidance, we believed in it. He who believes in his Lord has no fear of loss or of injustice. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; 18 (It has been revealed to me that) When the slave of Allah (Muhammad SAW) stood up invoking (his Lord Allah) in prayer to Him they (the jinns) just made round him a dense crowd as if sticking one over the other (in order to listen to the Prophet's recitation). 19
