Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a party of the jinn listened, and they said: Surely we have heard a wonderful Quran, 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And He - exalted be the majesty of our Lord! hath taken neither a spouse nor a son. 3 "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 "We went near the heavens but found it to be full of strong guards and shooting flames. 8 And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; 9 We do not know whether by this arrangement God intends benefit and guidance for the people of the earth or only evil. 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 And we know that we cannot escape from Allah in the earth, nor can we escape by flight. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. 13 And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19
