Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 which guides to the right path; so we have believed in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord, 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 and that “the foolish among us have been wont to say outrageous things about Allah”; 4 We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. 5 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. 10 And of us there are some righteous, and of us are some otherwise; we have been following very diverse paths. 11 And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. 13 Some of us are Muslims and some of us have deviated from the Truth. Whoever has embraced Islam has followed the right guidance. 14 but those who are wrongdoers will become the fuel of Hell." 15 If they (non-Muslims) had believed in Allah, and went on the Right Way (i.e. Islam) We should surely have bestowed on them water (rain) in abundance. 16 as a trial for them. God will make those who disregard the guidance from their Lord suffer increasing torment. 17 All places of worship are for God; so do not invoke any one with God. 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
