20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god except Him. Take Him for your Guardian. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
