Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
