In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
