The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then looked he, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
