The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 shun uncleanness; 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
