The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your clothing purify 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
