The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
