The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 and purify your clothing, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
