Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
