The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
