The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
