The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your garments do purify, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he looked around, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
