The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 arise and give warning! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And children present [with him] 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
