The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your clothing purify 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be condemned! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he thought; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
