The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and give warning! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then looked he, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
