The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn, 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 purify your garments; 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
