The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 purify your garments; 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 it will be a hard day 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
