The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
