▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 concerning the sinners, 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
