Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to humankind, 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 From the guilty. 41 "What took you into the hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
