Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until death approached us". 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
