By no means! By the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning unto men, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
