▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
