▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
No, by the moon! 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 a warning to humankind, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
