And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 "And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement." 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
